muralist | designer | mixed media artist

Born and raised in the US, South Florida-based artist Annie Nugget shares her experiences as a first generation Vietnamese-American through multidisciplinary art. Her studio practices assimilate cultural and human values by connecting communities to her design. She explores her cultural identity while embracing new avenues of expression.

Inspired by fine art, street art and animation, her work combines subjects and materials to offer a juxtaposition of concepts. She is driven to take normal objects or themes and share a new visual flow of reimagined ideas. Common themes include both muted and bright color palettes, movement and melded Asian-American ideas.

Mẹ,

Thank you for always sacrificing. At the age you were a refugee, making friends in school was my only concern. I'm American, but sometimes I wish I could understand better what it means to be Vietnamese.

I thought the sweatshop was normal....it didn't make sense when I went to bounce house parties or picked costumes on career day. I was always different. If it wasn't drawing in library books, it was reaching the foot pedal with each tag. What did it mean...the "American Dream?"

How can share our story? I will learn. I love you and ba forever.

Thuy Anh
